Immediate improvements in pain from common clinical tests for knee pain

Study aims

This study aims to assess immediate improvements in anterior knee pain and the diagnostic accuracy of patellar taping and isometric exercise by utilising a pain provocation test and pain mapping to assess the severity and location of pain.

Eligibility criteria

  • Anterior knee pain
  • Age 18-50
  • No previous knee surgery in the last 6 months
  • Ability to complete a decline squat
  • No allergy to tape

Participation requirements

One 45-minute session to collect data, includes:

  • Completion of 3 questionnaires
  • Assessment of pain location
  • Clinical assessments e.g. lunge, hop test
  • Physiotherapy interventions e.g. taping and exercise
