Dr Ebonie Rio leads neuroscience and pain research at LASEM. The research aims to understand pain mechanisms following different injuries and impact on rehabilitation. Techniques for better understanding pain include qualitative work with patients and clinicians as well as neuroscience and sensory testing methods. The studies that are currently being conducted include those in tendon pain (Achilles, Patellar, Elbow), De Quervains, knee pain and recurrent hamstring injury. Education and tailored rehabilitation form the cornerstone of intervention studies within this research group.
